Director Will Finally ‘FLY’

DIRECTOR WILL FINALLY ‘FLY’

At long last, well respected assistant director, David Venghaus, whose films have ranged from Gore Verbinski’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” to Steven Spielberg’s “Minority Report” to Robert Zemeckis’ “Forest Gump,” will see his helming debut with “Fly on the Wall,” a spec fantasy/comedy script he co-wrote and set up at CastleBright Studios, a new player in the world of film financing.

CastleBright toppers Jay Douglas and Nav Gupta will produce alongside Eric McLeod (“Pirates” 2 and 3, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “Austin Powers”), who most recently worked with Venghaus while producing Ben Stiller’s “Tropic Thunder,” and aligned with the project shortly after Douglas and Gupta pledged to fast track the film for a 2010 release.

The script, co-written with Juan Carlos Ros, centers on a wishful TMZ-like reporter, deprived of hip stories and hot girls, who is mystically granted the ability to transform into a fly, so he can peep on anything he desires; a gift that comes with a price to be paid.

Venghaus, through his newly formed Greenbelt Films, imagines a unique take on a human-like fly, utilizing motion capture techniques he garnered from the upcoming Jim Carrey starrer “A Christmas Carol.” He is currently on “Mars Needs Moms!,” while McLeod is exec producing Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” helmed by Mike Newell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

“We’re excited to be working with David and Eric and look forward to a long-standing collaboration,” Gupta commented.

CastleBright aims to finance 3 to 5 films a year, with budgets ranging from 10 to 100 million. Douglas and Gupta are open to co-financing scenarios and will be actively seeking a distribution deal.
