THE DOT FILM COMPANY ANNOUNCES ACCEPTANCE AT SLAMDANCE

Toronto, ONTARIO -- The Dot Film Company’s debut feature film THINGS TO DO has been accepted into the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City Utah.

THINGS TO DO is one of eleven projects selected from approximately 1000 submissions to compete in the Narrative Feature Film category. It is also the only Canadian Narrative Feature Film selected for competition. Co-written by Theodore Bezaire and Mike Stasko, directed by Bezaire, the film centres on a man in his mid-twenties who leaves the big city after witnessing a traumatic event to return to the comforts of his childhood home, whereupon he compiles a comedic list of “Things To Do” with an oddball acquaintance from his past.

Much like their indie-filmmaking counterparts in the US, The Dot Film Company financed the mid-six figure budget entirely through private investment. “Going from nothing within one year, in terms of a product to having a finished film in a major film festival is quite an accomplishment for us as filmmakers” says Producer Gerry Lattmann. “I am very excited to premiere our film on an international stage, our dedication has truly paid off” adds Bezaire.

The Dot Film Company has obtained producer representation from Steven C. Beer of Greenberg Traurig based in New York City. “The invitation to premiere at Slamdance is a homerun for the film. Things To Do is a perfect fit for this festival because it embodies the true spirit of independent filmmaking” says Beer.

After much success and winning the PLATINUM REMI AWARD at Worldfest Houston in May of 2005 for the short film PRIA (also directed by Bezaire, funded through CBC), The Dot Film Company, decided to move forward with their feature length project THINGS TO DO. The film was shot entirely on location in Windsor, Ontario.
