WRITERS GUILD LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE REGISTRY WEBSITE
Los Angeles, CA -– As the Writers Guild of America, west Registry's 24-hour online registration service continues to expand, the WGAw announces the launch of its new Registry website: www.wgawregistry.org.
"The guild is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved online registry homepage, which makes the WGAw Registry – the world’s largest, leading intellectual property registration service – even more convenient for users, allowing them to safeguard their work, no matter the genre or medium," said WGAw Assistant Executive Director Charles Slocum.
Through its WGAw Registry service, the guild has been providing legal evidence to support writers in the film and television industry for over 75 years. This valuable service is also available to authors of all literary material, including novelists, journalists, authors, playwrights, and poets. The WGAw service covers a wide range of intellectual property, including creative works such as photographs, videogame design, architectural drawings, doctoral theses, graphic design, lyrics, and other compositions.
Backed by an unprecedented level of security, the WGAw Registry allows artists and writers to establish completion dates for their material and backs up their claim to authorship. If an artist needs to take legal action regarding their material, a WGAw registration can be used as evidence in a court of law.
Material can be registered online 24 hours a day, in person, or by mail, processed quickly and safely. Complete instructions for registering with the WGAw Registry are available at: wgawregistry.org.
The WGAw Registry is part of the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAW). A union for film, television, and radio writers, the WGAw is located in the heart of the entertainment community and has been advocating writers’ rights since 1933.
The Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw) represents writers in the motion picture, broadcast, cable, and new media industries in both entertainment and news. The union conducts numerous programs, seminars, and events throughout the world on issues of interest to, and on behalf of, writers.
