Script World 2002 announced its three winners in an award ceremony on Nov. 16, 2002, concurrent with the Screenwriting Expo at the L.A. Convention Center.
We were excited to name the following
outstanding scripts as our winners:
1st Place - BECK - Jon C. Regan
Drama - California's governor must decide whether to abandon his pro-death penalty stance or execute his illegitimate daughter.
2nd Place - SOUL SEARCHING - Steve Fardys
Horror/Supernatural, Suspense/Thriller - What would you do if you woke up one day with someone else's memories? Someone of a different race. Someone of a different sex. Someone convicted of murder... What would you do?
3rd Place - BUFORD'S ALL NIGHT ZOMBIE DINER - Gregory Blair
Comedy - The graveyard shift at a lone diner becomes the raucous battleground for some disco-dancing, man-eating zombies and a handful of hick hash-slingers.
All three prize packages include cash, Final Draft Screenwriting Software, screenwriting books from Michael Wiese Productions, Producers 411 and Agents & Managers 411 directories from variety.com, and a coverage package courtesy of Script P.I.M.P. Additionally, the first place prize package includes a custom trailer to be produced and directed by Mad Filmmaker Productions, free tuition to the Action/Cut Directed By seminar, and a copy of Plots Unlimited from Ashley Wilde Publishing.
One of these winning screenplays will be selected for a staged reading by Drama Garage in Hollywood. Last year's production of Tom Snyder's "Black Shirts" was standing room only!
