Other
Awards/Prizes: One year membership in OBS. Semi-finalists will
be read by industry professionals. OBS will make every effort to promote the winning scripts to
literary agents, managers, network executives,
production companies and studios. |

The purpose of the OBS Competition is to assist
writers in a variety of areas. Past winners have secured agents, met with industry professionals,
had scripts optioned and received freelance writing assignments. Our winners have also been
acknowledged in the entertainment press.
The OBS Selection Committee seeks original, compelling stories that reflect the work of
visionary talent. Our organization welcomes scripts about the Black experience; however, that
is not a requirement for contest submissions. |

Eligibility:
Only open to writers who do not earn a living writing for television or film. Open to members of all races. |

Rules:
The categories are:
Original screenplays, 90-120 pages. This includes
movies made for television.
Spec scripts of existing TV Shows:
Half-hour spec, 30-50 pages.
One-hour spec, 50-65 pages.
Spec scripts of existing shows must be for current shows, i.e., show that were in production as of
January 1, 2000.
Television pilot scripts:
Half-Hour pilot, 30-50 pages.
One-Hour pilot, 50-65 pages.
