The Reel Sisters Screenplay Competition is dedicated to supporting
the creation of new screenplays by women of color. Our goal is to
create opportunities for women of color in the film industry to
succeed as writers, directors and producers. A well-written script
will provide jobs and opportunities for artists of color to excel
behind and in front of the camera once a screenplay is produced.
It is in this spirit that Reel Sisters presents our first
screenplay competition. |

- Entries must be postmarked by
November 10, 2005 (Early Entry deadline fee: $25) or postmarked by
January 13, 2006 (Late Entry deadline fee: $35). If you would like
notification of the receipt of your submission, please send a
self-addressed and stamped postcard along with your entry.
- The Reel Sisters Screenplay
Competition invites submissions from women of African,
African-American, Latin, Caribbean, Asian/Indian, Pacific
Islander, Native American and Aboriginal descent. If you are
submitting a collaborative script, your co-writer(s) do not have
to be gender or race specific.
- All entries must include an
original screenplay between 90 to 120 pages, a completed entry
form, a signed release form, a short synopsis, and the appropriate
entry fee(s). All checks and money orders must be payable to Reel
Sisters. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are also accepted.
- Your submission must be an
original screenplay written in the English language or translated
into English. The screenplay submission must not be published,
produced, sold, or under option at the time of submission.
Screenplays must be between 90-120 pages. Screenplays must be
properly bound and written in standard screenplay format.
- Judging will be anonymous. Your
entry form(s) and screenplay(s) will be assigned corresponding
numbers, and your screenplay(s) will be identifiable to the judges
by number only. Do not indicate your name on your title or
synopsis page. Do not bind or staple any additional information to
the script.
- Script collaborations are allowed,
however, each writer must sign the application form (there are
multiple lines for co-writers at the bottom of the form), and the
work must be the sole and exclusive property of the collaborators.
WGA Registration # or Copyright information is required.
- Substitutions of new drafts for
entries once received will be not accepted under any
circumstances.
- We cannot return submitted
scripts. Please do not send your original copy.
