people laugh at something they normally
wouldn't find amusing.
My inspiration to write BATCHES OF BILL.......
because...well, I like food and I love my
husband. It occurred to me that if you are what you eat, then what
better way to hold on to a loved one than to, well, eat them. But what
if your loved one turned out to have secrets that you couldn't
stomach?

FilmMakers Magazine: What did you do to prepare yourself
to write your script?
Kelly K. Anelons:
Before writing this script, I read
many, many short scripts.
FilmMakers Magazine: Is
this your first script and how long did it take you to write BATCHES OF BILL?
Kelly K. Anelons:
This is my first short script although
I've written some feature scripts, one of which is currently in
the finals of another competition.
It's challenging because there's absolutely no room for extraneous
seconds in a short. I've learned to respect the baby steps.
FilmMakers Magazine: Do you believe screenplay contests
are important for aspiring screenwriters and why?
Kelly K. Anelons:
I'll continue to use competitions like
American Gem to get attention for my projects.
FilmMakers Magazine:
What
influenced you to enter the
American Gem Short Script Competition?
Kelly K. Anelons:
American Gem has provided an added
bonus with the detailed coverage that will definitely guide my
rewrite.
FilmMakers Magazine: Who is your favorite Screenwriter
and Why?
Kelly K. Anelons:
I admire David Mamet's scripts because his characters are so
approachable and flawed. His stories don't have to be big to be
fascinating.
FilmMakers Magazine:
Any tips and things learned along
the way to pass on to others?
