What Space Will Really Be Like.
Synopsis
Secret government program of shipping prisoners from earth to work the
mines on asteroids near mars is discovered. Tension mounts as main
character struggles with the morality of using prisoners for slave labor
and the necessity of keeping quiet like everyone else to preserve income
and career. 



In 2032, then President Chelsea Clinton decides the fate of
America's future space program. She gives the full duty of space
exploration to the Navy. In the year 2097, the Navy has established a
string of space stations that lace out towards the farthest realms of the
solar system. 

Rand, a mouthy and world-wise woman opts to follow her career path to
commissioning as an officer in the Navy by going to space. Action of
surreal and upsetting events and realities force Rand into a moral dilemma.

The introduction, evolution and transformation of Rand from an aspiring
cadet to a savvy woman who eschews promotion for personal principles is
intertwined with conflicts and action. 

Other characters, like the real people you meet in the military live their
lives while problems on earth and space erupt. 

Outland meets McHale's Navy. 

Serious overtone is often upset by the ridiculousness of life in
space run by the military.
