Synopsis
Brenda Bratkowski, a.k.a. Pamela Hyde-Park, is a thief. She's good at it, but most of her loot winds up in the chubby hands of Paulie "Pliers", a.k.a. The Dentist. Paulie is forever thinking Pam is holding out on him, and he should fix this by giving her some free dental work.

This last time, Paulie is right. No way will Pam turn over her latest score, an old lamp. Because the lamp has produced Gene, and three wishes.

Pam is ecstatic. But not so Gene. Two thousand years ago, Gene had gotten on the bad side of an evil Jinn - who gave him the choice of a painful death or immortality in the lamp. An immortality that keeps him from any meaningful human contact. Had he made the wrong choice? Having to help a thief on the run irks him further. And how come people assume genies never have to eat?

Before too long, Pam has used her first two wishes and not ended up with anything more than a supply of Chinese food. With only one wish remaining, she has to fend off Paulie, blustery Detective "Key" Largo, and a new threat, Tess, the owner of the lamp.

Angelic-looking Tess is bad news, as she's always telling people. Their worst nightmare. Also an incurable romantic. She wants the lamp back, thinking Gene is still inside.

As Pam and Gene evade both Paulie's men and Tess's crew, they find themselves falling for each other. But it's a hopeless love. When Gene returns to the lamp at sundown, he'll sleep for 100 years. And if he doesn't return, he's dust. Despite knowing this, when Gene is faced with the choice of retrieving the lamp or saving Pam from Paulie, he makes the sacrifice and chooses Pam.

Gene is ready to give up on ever getting the lamp back, especially after finding that Tess has recovered it. Gene knows the meaning of the old Persian saying: "Don't mess with Tess".

Surprisingly, the not-so-evil Tess, who had stopped Det. Largo by making his pants fall down, returns the lamp in time. As sundown comes, Tess and Pam watch Gene being sucked back into the lamp. A horrified Pam blurts out her third wish - the wish that Gene be human.

Tess is pissed. Two thousand years before, Gene had cheated on her and she had used her magic powers as a Jinn to send him into the lamp. Now, she's not ready to let his punishment end till she's sure he's learned a lesson in commitment. She does her thing, but this time the one who gets sucked into the lamp is Paulie, who had arrived just in time to get what he thought was coming to him.

Tess threatens Pam and Gene again. But she can't separate them, and she knows it. She's lost. And won.

While Pam and Gene gaze endearingly into each other's eyes, Det. Largo is left whimpering into his cellphone: my pants have fallen and I can't get them up.
