Script Excerpt American Gem Short Script Contest
Kristen Alario Kristen has been writing screenplays for over five years. She has placed in several contests and has attended screenwriting conferences and workshops in Houston, Austin and Los Angeles. With one short filmed, she hopes to see more of her work come to life. In addition to screenplays, she has also written several short stage plays.
A Pentecostal teen gets kicked out of the house by her faith healing father. When she finds a job in a seedy adult book store, she takes control of her life and saves her asthmatic sister in the process.
I knew I wanted to be screenwriter when I finally listened to the stories in my head.
My inspiration to write Glory Hole was a mixture of things. Mainly, I had just discovered what the term "glory hole" meant. Around the same time, I read a news article about a faith healing preacher who died from a snake bite. I mixed the two subjects to develop my story.
